Last week we had the chance to visit the Motorhome and Caravan show at the NEC in Birmingham to see the vast selection of caravans, motorhomes, campers and related accessories that are available for 2020. This was the first time that either of us have visited the show and on the basis of what we saw we’ll definitely be making the trip again.
It was good to see all main manufacturers there and, while we aren’t currently interested in caravans, I find it useful to see how they have solved storage problems and what can be possible with the additional space they have compared to a camper.
The main excitement for us was seeing the VW stand and the brand new Grand California. Based on a Crafter chassis the extra space compared to a Transporter has been fully utilised with a wet room and fixed bed in the rear. With prices starting at £68,899 it’s a little out of our price range but hopefully we can use some of the ideas VW have had to improve our own van.
Something more in our price range was the screen covers available from Rainbow Screens and this is something we will definitely be ordering for our camper to cut down on the amount of condensation we get around the front windows. The big decision is what colour and eyes do we pick!
Overall it was an excellent show and well worth the £9.50 entry cost. If you missed out this time it will be back in 2020, alternatively there is a Caravan, Camping and Motorhome show in February 2020 if you can’t wait until October next year.
